Supporting a worldwide Alumni community
in a disrupted market.

Careercake and Sommet Education have joined forces to support and power the education provider’s 25,000-strong Alumni community to thrive in their careers.

Careercake and Sommet Education have partnered to support and power the education provider’s worldwide Alumni community.

Wahey!

The partnership forms part of a wider initiative Sommet Education is running as it launches the first-of-its-kind careers resource of this scale to support its 25,000-strong Alumni community.

Sommet Education, which is made up of a number of hospitality management institutions, including Glion and Les Roches, has students from more than 100 countries.

The partnership will see all Alumni given access to Careercake’s authentic job hunting and career development learning content, which is focused on helping people to rise to, take on and beat the firsts in their career.

Why create this awesome partnership? Let’s set the scene.

It’s incredibly tough out there at the moment. Even more so for graduates and those early on in their career with limited experience under their belt.

Especially with news of employers cancelling or postponing opportunities available to young people, including graduate schemes and internships.

“Launching career support and resources now is even more critical, ensuring we are supporting our Alumni through a really challenging economic environment” says Sophie Thomas, Director of Alumni Engagement at Sommet Education.

(That’s Sophie by the way, all-round amazing person who’s heading up the project).

“When our students are at school they are supported by a dedicated Career and Development team that help the students secure internships, write their CVs and prepare for the working world", she says.

"When the students graduate and become Alumni, it’s important for us that there are still resources, insight and support that tackle real life situations that Alumni find themselves in, no matter what career direction they have taken."

A great example of how organisations are stepping up and going that extra mile to support their students, alumni and employees.

Alumni will benefit from a range of careers videos, hosted in Sommet Education's own platform, to aid development, build confidence and help them to feel more prepared for whatever the employment market may present.

“The market is extremely tough for those who have graduated only to find their career plans have been put on hold. It’s never been as important to ensure your people feel seen, heard and valued - something the team at Sommet Education truly understand by launching a great initiative like this”, says Aimee Bateman.

Supporting Alumni with professional development content to take on and beat the firsts in the workplace

When asked why Sommet Education chose to partner with Careercake for its video content, Sophie said: “Careercake offers an amazing range of content, covering all the challenges with finding a job right through to managing teams for the first time”.

“Our Alumni are part of an amazing community who always turn back to their school for advice, support (and of course great memories!). By being able to have tangible benefits, information and support centred around career development and progression to ultimately help Alumni find amazing roles that they want – is the ultimate goal.

“86% of our Alumni find themselves in management within 5 years of graduating, so being able to offer this really relevant content and method of delivery was perfect for the younger cohorts of Alumni.

“The professional content that comes from passionate and experienced individuals means the videos are packed full of useful advice – even if you graduated decades ago!”

The careers resource created to support Alumni sees partners, The Growth Works for their mentorship programme and Hosco for their hospitality job board.
